Humanitarian African Relief Organization (HARO) believes that building a strong primary healthcare system in Somalia and other East African countries is imperative. We want to bring about a sustainable financing for health. Most parts of Somalia are in substantial need of a good health facilities. The healthcare systems in major parts of Somalia have been adversely affected by decades of instability and civil war. HARO is committed to using the existing opportunities and resources to upgrade the health and social development in the region. Our recent progress in this regard is as follows:
- Working with the existing hospitals to enhance their healthcare by:
- Training their healthcare workers
- Providing equipment
- Building new clinics
- Funding for vaccinations against cholera, diarrhea and other infectious diseases
- Working towards sanitation facilities to combat various infections, especially during COVID times
- Providing necessary diet and medication for the expected mothers and infants
